I was recently introduced to the works of Sanborn Map Insurance Company in the 1890's. The handdrawn covers of their insurance maps drew me in straight away. I then saw the Blue Grass Boogiemen live in my hometown - the first concert after a long time of lockdown due to covid - and it struck me: I can use this style with this band because their music fits the artwork. And so I went full in. Completed the logo and then worked out my vision and created a concert poster in the Sanborn style. It took me about three months to finish the poster because a large part of the poster is drawn with a mouse. I'm now getting ready to get it screenprinted. Very happy with the result and the insight it gave me. Glad to say the band liked it too, as it was unsolicited.
